About the school

  • Where is the location of the school?

    QQEnglish IT Park campus is located on the 7th floor, Skyrise 4, IT Park, Cebu city.

     

  • I’m a beginner, is that okay?

    We will test your English proficiency before you go abroad. We will recommend courses that suit your English level, and even beginners can study with confidence.

     

  • Do Filipino teachers have accent problems with their English?

    Generally, Filipino teachers who graduate from university speak natural, easy-to-understand American English. In particular, we have strict standards for pronunciation when hiring teachers. After being hired, teachers are trained strictly by native speakers. Please rest assured that we will correct the teacher’s pronunciation to pursue a more natural and beautiful accent.

  • Can my children study abroad?

    Studying abroad is accepted from 5 years old and older (excluding preschoolers). Students must be 16 years of age or older to stay in the dormitory.

     

  • Is there a childcare center?

    There is no childcare center.

     

  • Is the teacher fixed?

    Teachers are not fixed and can be freely selected in each lesson.

     

  • Can I change teachers?

    You can choose your preferred teacher on the online booking screen.

     

  • What is the minimum number of days I can study abroad?

    It is possible to study abroad for a minimum of one day. You can choose from a plan of 3, 6, or 8 lessons per day. In addition, instead of applying on a weekly basis, it is possible to study abroad for as many days as you like in units of one day.

     

  • How to choose the start date?

    You can choose the start date freely, any day is fine. There will be about 10 days of school holidays every year, during which the school will temporarily be unable to offer courses.

  • Is it possible to pay the tuition in installments?

    Tuition fees need to be paid in one lump sum.

     

  • Can I pay an additional fee to take classes on closed days?

    Sorry, we can not provide lessons on closed days.

     

  • Is it possible to change the schedule after applying?

    We cannot accept changes to the study abroad schedule once you have applied for it. Please cancel your application and apply again.

     

  • May I have a receipt?

    After confirming the completion of the transfer, we will issue a receipt.

     

  • What’s Pick-up?

    Pick-up is a shuttle service from the airport to the accommodation (*) around the school or IT park. If you like, we can provide it to you. The service charge is $30. If you don’t want to use this service, you can take a taxi from the airport directly to the school.

  • Are there supermarkets and restaurants near the school?

    There is a big shopping mall next to our school. There are all kinds of restaurants, cafes, clothing stores and a supermarket there. In addition, there are McDonald’s, Starbucks, and other chain restaurants in IT park.

  • How about food?

    The school offers multinational dishes such as Japanese, Korean, Chinese and Filipino dishes.

     

  • Do you offer Wi-Fi?

    Free Wi-Fi is available in the school building and dormitory.

     

  • Is alcohol prohibited on campus?

    Drinking is forbidden in the campus and dormitory.

     

  • Is smoking prohibited on campus?

    Smoking is forbidden in the campus and dormitory. There is a public smoking area in IT Park.

About accommodation

  • What is the accommodation provided by the school?

    QQ English temporarily only provides capsule hotels on campus.

     

  • What do you suggest about accommodation?

    Student Dormitory (Capsule Hotel): For those who want to reduce the cost and live close to the school.
    Hotel: Those who want to enjoy studying abroad while in a private space
    Airbnb: People who want to experience life in Cebu

  • Is it possible to change the accommodation halfway?

    Yes, you can. You change from a student dormitory to a hotel or an Airbnb, but the paid dormitory fee cannot be returned to you.
    If you want to change from a hotel to a student dormitory, please contact us in advance for confirmation.

     

  • What are the facilities and services of the dormitory?

    In the dormitory attached to the school building, you can use a capsule hotel type room. Rooms include mattresses, air conditioning, mirrors, hangers and hooks. In addition, there is a shared shower and toilet on the floor, and there is also a lounge area where you can study.
    * Eating and drinking in the capsule hotel area is prohibited by the regulations of the building.

     

  • What are the new anti-coronavirus measures in the student dormitories?

    We perform regular disinfection and cleaning. In addition, we ask that you wear a mask in the dormitory.

     

  • Is the dormitory divided into male and female?

    The space is divided between male and female.

     

  • Are there any rules for the student dormitories?

    Eating and drinking in the dormitory is only possible in the lounge space. Drinking alcohol is prohibited by the regulations of the building, and if you violate it, you will be prohibited from entering the building. Also, eating and drinking in the bed space is strictly prohibited.

     

  • Is there a curfew in the dormitory?

    There is no curfew. However, since the dormitory is a place shared by many students, please be careful about the noise that occurs when you come and go in the middle of the night or early in the morning.

     

  • When can I check in and check out?

    You can check in one day before the start of the course; Check-out is required the day after the end of the course.

     

  • Is there a place to study in the dormitory? Is there a fixed time slot that can be used?

    You can study at a desk in the school building. You can use it from 6:00 ~ 21:00. Available on all days except school holidays.

     

  • Are the toilets and showers in the dormitory shared? Is the usage time fixed?

    Toilets and showers are shared. Please refrain from using the shower late at night or early in the morning as it may cause inconvenience to other students.

     

  • Are there lockers and safes in the dormitory?

    We have not provided lockers or safes for the time being.

     

  • Can I choose the upper or lower capsules in the dormitory?

    We’re sorry, you can’t choose.

     

  • What are the hotels or condo nearest to the school?

    Seda Hotel is next to the school, and it is the nearest hotel.
    Others, such as Waterfront Hotel, Zerenity Hotel, and Alba Uno Hotel, are all within a 10-minute walk from the school.

About life in Cebu

  • Is Cebu safe?

    Cebu Island is one of the world-famous tourist destinations, so it is very safe. In particular, IT park where our school is located is equipped with 24-hour security, which makes it a very safe area on the Island.

     

  • How much should I prepare for living expenses?

    Daily living expenses in Cebu, such as shopping, food, entertainment, etc., suggest to prepare 200-400 USD per month. Please prepare for the specific amount according to your actual needs.

     

  • How to exchange pesos?

    You can exchange money at the exchange offices in the IT Park and shopping malls. In addition, it may be possible to withdraw cash with an international debit card or credit card, so please confirm with your card company before departure. For your safety, try not to carry a large amount of cash with you.

     

  • Is it possible to use the school PC for self-study time?

    We’re sorry, we haven’t provided any extra computers for self-study for the time being. If you need to use a computer, please bring your own.

     

  • What if I feel sick?

    A school nurse is stationed at the school building, so if you feel unwell, you can consult with us.
    In case of emergency, we will guide you to a medical institution.
    *Please bring your regular medicine with you.

     

  • Is there anything I should be careful about in terms of hygiene?

    Tap water cannot be drunk. Please be careful not to accidentally drink it.
    Also, be careful about local food, food stalls, and food that has been sitting out for a long time.

     

  • Please tell me how to spend the holidays?

    You can study in school or dormitory; You can also go shopping or travel around with friends or kill time at a resort.
    Use English as much as possible to communicate with different people and practice English.

     

  • Can I do the laundry?

    There are several laundry shops around the school. Basically, it is not self-service, but there are many shops where staff will do everything from washing to folding.
    You can also choose QQE laundry.

Preparation before studying abroad

  • Do you need a VISA?

    Please confirm in advance whether you need a visa to enter the Philippines.
    After you enter school, QQEnglish will handle the visa extension during your study period.

     

  • What is SSP?

    SSP is an abbreviation for Special Study Permission, which is a “special study permit” issued by the Philippine government. If you want to study in the Philippines, you need to get it. The SSP acquisition procedure is not required by the students, as our staff will take care of the acquisition procedure after your visit.

  • Do I need to retake the SSP when I study abroad for the second time?

    The SSP (Special Study Permit) is valid for 6 months, so if you exceed the expiration date, you will need to apply again.

     

  • What is an I-Card?

    Alien registration card. Those who stay in the Philippines for 59 days or more need to obtain it, but the school will take care of the application. The fee is 3200 PHP.

     

  • What should I bring with me when I study abroad?

  • What kind of clothes should I bring?

    Buildings with QQ English have a dress code and cannot be entered with sleeveless tank tops, camisoles, or sandals. For details, please see the material about the dress code here.

    In daily life, the annual temperature in the Philippines is 25℃~32℃, so summer clothes are recommended. Because there are also places with strong air conditioning, please also prepare a coat or a long-sleeved shirt.

  • Can I take over the records I learned online when studying abroad in Cebu?

    It can be taken over.
    You can study abroad the continuation what you have learned online.
    In addition, you can continue to study online even after studying abroad.

     

  • Can I continue to take the same materials as online English conversation?

    QQ English Online and studying abroad here in IT Park use the same material.
    Please be assured that you can use the same teaching materials as you continue to take the course.
